Privacy Policy
Last updated: JULY 15, 2026
Summary (plain English): FluentWeave is built to collect as little as possible. There is no sign-up — no email address, no password, no profile. The app creates a random, anonymous identifier so your subscription can unlock content; we never learn who you are. Beyond that, we keep subscription records and, unless you opt out, anonymous usage statistics that we host ourselves — no advertising or analytics companies. What you read and listen to stays on your device. We do not sell your information, and we do not track you.
Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the FluentWeave mobile app and the FluentWeave website.
Information We Collect
- Anonymous account identifier: When you first use FluentWeave, the app generates a random identifier (a UUID — a string of letters and numbers). It is not derived from your name, email address, Apple ID, or device, and it cannot be used by us to identify you. It is stored in your device's Keychain and synced by Apple's iCloud Keychain to your other devices so a subscription works everywhere you're signed in to iCloud.
- Subscription and purchase records: Subscriptions are purchased through Apple. Apple processes your payment and never shares your name, email address, or payment details with us. Apple provides us cryptographically signed transaction records, which we store linked to your anonymous identifier so we can verify that your subscription is active and unlock downloads.
- Usage statistics (you can turn these off): Unless you switch off "Help improve FluentWeave" in Settings → Privacy, the app sends us anonymous usage events: which setup screens you visit, whether the subscription screen leads to a purchase, whether book downloads succeed or fail, and playback session statistics (which book, how long, how many sentences). Events are tagged with your anonymous identifier so we can count unique users. These events never include the text or audio of books, your name or contact details, or your location. Turning the toggle off stops all of this immediately and does not affect any feature.
- Crash and performance reports: If the app crashes, a technical report (device model, OS version, app version, and the state of the app at the time) is sent to Sentry, a crash-reporting service, tagged with your anonymous identifier so we can tell how many users an issue affects. We configure these reports to exclude the contents of network requests and responses. A small random sample of performance timings (such as app launch speed) is also collected.
- Book downloads: When you download a book, our server processes the request (which book, authorized by your anonymous identifier) in order to deliver the files and to count whether downloads succeed.
- Server logs and abuse prevention: Like nearly all internet services, our servers briefly process your IP address to defend against abuse (rate limiting) and in transient infrastructure logs. Rate-limiting entries expire within one hour.
- On your device only: Your reading position, finished chapters, language choices, playback speeds, and other preferences are stored locally on your device. They are not sent to us.
- Website: We do not intentionally collect personal information through this website other than what you choose to send us (for example, by email).
- Email: If you email us, we receive your email address and message content so we can respond.
Data We Do Not Collect (App)
The FluentWeave app does not collect or request access to:
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Location data
- Contacts
- Photos, media library, or camera data
- Health data
- Payment card details (Apple processes payment; we never see them)
- Advertising identifiers
- Microphone data
Tracking
We do not track you. FluentWeave does not use data for cross-app or cross-site tracking, contains no advertising, and shares nothing with data brokers or ad networks.
How We Use Information
- Subscriptions: To verify your subscription and unlock book downloads.
- Improvement: To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it (unless you opt out).
- Reliability: To find and fix crashes and defects.
- Abuse prevention: To defend our service against abuse.
- Email/support: To respond to inquiries and provide support.
- Legal: To comply with legal obligations if applicable.
Sharing and Service Providers
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own purposes.
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf and under our instructions:
- Apple — payment processing and subscription management
- Cloudflare — hosts our servers, database, and book content delivery
- Sentry — processes crash reports
Beyond these providers, we disclose information only if required by law or to protect our rights.
Data Retention
- Usage statistics: deleted automatically after 90 days.
- Identifier and subscription records: kept while your account exists; removed by account deletion (below).
- Crash reports: retained by Sentry for a limited period, then deleted.
- Rate-limiting entries: expire within one hour.
- Email: retained only as long as needed to respond and keep basic business records.
Deleting Your Account
In the app, Settings → Subscription → Delete Account does the following, immediately:
- Deletes your anonymous identifier and subscription records from our servers
- Anonymizes your usage statistics (the identifier is removed from them; anonymous aggregate counts remain)
- Removes downloaded books, preferences, and reading progress from your device and returns the app to its initial state
Your Apple subscription itself is managed by Apple and will continue to renew unless you cancel it in your Apple ID settings — deleting your FluentWeave account does not cancel it.
Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the information we handle, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for all communication between the app and our servers. Note that no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Encryption / Export Compliance Note
FluentWeave does not implement custom encryption. It relies on standard, platform-provided security features (for example, TLS and the iOS Keychain) when storing data and communicating over the internet.
Children’s Privacy
FluentWeave is intended for a general audience, with a primary focus on adult learners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we add features that collect or transmit personal information beyond what this policy describes, we will update this Privacy Policy before those changes take effect. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
